nobody really talks about it. you picture yourself settling into Madrid, an exciting new city with new opportunities. grabbing coffee with friends, having plans on a friday night, or exploring the new world you just moved into.
then you actually move here and realize making friends as an adult is nothing like it was in school. there's no built-in group. no one assigned to sit next to you.
you have to build it yourself, and that's a lot harder than anyone warns you about.
(and don't even get me started on the actual culture shocks of moving to a new city).
that's exactly why Lync exists.
when I moved to madrid four years ago, I genuinely spent the first six months crying every night and wanting to go home.
i didn't realize how important community was to my LIVELIHOOD! i didn't realize how badly i needed girl time, community, and deep connection.
so i started Lync so no other woman has to feel the same aching pain I felt. the same pain of being genuinely alone.
now we're 5,000+ women across Madrid, meeting up for everything from hikes to paint nights to dinners where you leave with three new bestfriends.
this newsletter is where we'll keep you in the loop. expect:
- upcoming events before they hit our socials
- real recs from women who live here (the good coffee spots, the non-touristy things to do, the stuff you actually want to know)
- member stories, because some of the best friendships we've seen started at a Lync event
- the occasional behind-the-scenes look at how this whole thing runs
- tips and tricks to get situated in madrid
if you're new here, welcome. if you've been to an event already, you already know what this community feels like. either way, we're glad you're here.
keep an eye out for what's coming this month. It's a good one.
